God’s Faithfulness at His Mansion

Dear Friends and Family,

We are so grateful for your continued prayers and support as we settle into our new  life at His Mansion. After 3 months here we finally feel a sense of home and we are embracing the rhythms of ministry and community living.

This month has been filled with memorable moments, Kane experienced his very first sledding experience! He had so much fun, well until Jocelyn joined him on the same sled. They went so fast down the hill that they caught air! Kane made sure to let us know he only wants to sled solo from now on, it was a little too scary for him to go together.

On February 12th, Jocelyn stepped into her first act of ministry at His Mansion by hosting a Valentine’s Day gathering for the women residents in our home. It was a sweet time of fellowship, showing God’s love to these women who are on their journeys of healing.

Jocelyn used some of the funds from many of your donations to fund the event. She made all the decorations by hand. There was a sleepover spa night theme, where the women showed up in PJs,  they could do face masks, write letters to their friends or family and Jocelyn got chapstick as well as an assortment of scrunchies for each of the women to choose from to take with them.

Gluten Free Heart Shaped Creampuff

Jocelyn’s Aunty Madeline who also lives at His Mansion came over to teach her how to make a heart-shaped gluten free cream puff for the Galentine's Day Evening. The night was very heartwarming, focused on the love of our Lord and the women left feeling loved.

The biggest snowstorm we’ve had since moving here blanketed His Mansion in beauty. We had around 20 inches of snow in a day and a half. Look at those snow banks after the snow plowing was all finished!

Rune has been overseeing the orientation of the new male residents entering the program. There are about seven additional men that will be entering the program and there are three more women that have just joined.

Rune will also be involved in evaluations of current male residents, helping to guide them in their next steps to see if they are ready for the next phase of recovery in the program (there are three phases of recovery in the program).

It has been humbling and rewarding to walk alongside these men and witness God’s redemptive work in their lives. Most exciting, there were five men that graduated from the program last week! One man will be returning to his family to be a Godly leader of this home. Another will be attempting to enter ministry work in an international mission group. And the other three will be returning to His Mansion after three weeks of staying with family to return to be in service to His Mansion as servant leaders.

The Servant Leader Program is a one-year discipleship program designed to equip volunteers to serve the recovering residents by living alongside them. One male resident will be returning after a much needed back surgery. We praise our Lord for his saving grace he granted each one of these men. Even though we have only known them for about three months, it was emotional to see them leave.

As we continue in this season of service, we are so thankful for each of you who lift our family and this ministry up in prayer. Please pray for continued wisdom, compassion, and discernment in our roles, and that our home would be a place of encouragement for those we serve.

Here is a more specific Prayer List.

This Month Please Pray For:

  • Three weeks ago we welcomed 4 new male residents and 3 new female residents. The adjustment to a regimented lifestyle is hard and confronting. Please pray these men and women will be strengthened by the Lord and have an assurance that this is where the Lord wants them to be.

  • Three new residents are waiting to enter the program. Please pray they will arrive here safely and will feel at home.

  • Our Phase Three residents have graduated this week. Please pray they will rest in God’s provision for their lives. It is a fearful thing to these men to step into what is unknown and reminds them of their past struggles. Pray they will be relying on the Lord in times of temptation.

  • Next is our evaluation week, where we will discuss each resident's current progress in our program. This can be a stressful time for the residents. Please pray for peace for the men and women transitioning into a new phase. But please also pray for us as staff to have wisdom, discernment, and a kind delivery of truth that will build them up.

  • In three weeks, three of the male residents are expected to return as Servant Leaders. Please pray for each of the residents planning on returning to be protected in their time away. One man has a back surgery in between his time away, so please pray for a smooth surgery and swift recovery.

  • Rune as he continues to adjust to ministry life. He is dealing with men who have undergone great hardship and it is difficult to be both compassionate yet ensure he doesn’t take these issues home. Pray Rune will continue to grow in his leadership abilities according to God’s Word.

  • Kane as he is looking to make new connections with friends in the area. Even though we live a social life on the Hill, things are still very much new for him and challenging as a result.

  • Please pray for Jocelyn as she takes on ministry opportunities here by opening up our home to the women in the program.

We are so grateful for each of your prayers,

The Lekkerkerkers

Rune, Jocelyn, & Kane
